Barcelona, February 16 – Net-Pharma Hub, a crucial ecosystem for the pharmaceutical sector, is set to open in May in Sant Quirze del Vallès, Barcelona. The new facility, located in the former Ermenegildo Zegna textile factory, will reinforce Catalonia’s biopharmaceutical ecosystem and expand Net-Pharma’s national presence after its successful venture in Alcobendas.
A Strategic Enclave for the Industry
The building spans 7,600 square meters and features 28 offices, warehouses, and two laboratories. Currently, 70% of the space is already occupied, hosting 12 companies and approximately 120 professionals daily. The property owner has invested 13 million euros in adapting the facility.
The two laboratories within the hub are managed by Leanbio, which is developing its new biopharmaceutical plant there. The anticipated investment for this plant exceeds 25 million euros.
This pharmaceutical hub in Barcelona aims to establish itself as a benchmark in Southern Europe, integrating into an area with a high concentration of sector companies, thereby fostering industrial synergies.
Expansion and Collaborative Model
Net-Pharma promotes a collaborative business model, connecting companies at various stages of the pharmaceutical cycle to encourage joint projects and access to specialized talent.
Cristóbal Molleja, president of Net-Pharma, emphasized the expansion, stating, “We are now making the leap to Barcelona with the same determination.” He explained that the objective is to consolidate a reference ecosystem.
The Barcelona pharmaceutical hub includes common areas, conference rooms, parking, and meeting spaces, all designed to facilitate daily operations.
Net-Pharma is led by seven anchor companies and encompasses over 50 companies, operating in 60 countries and serving more than 700 clients. With this opening, the pharmaceutical hub in Barcelona strengthens its role in the Spanish industry.
